“The systems and hierarchies that drive the inner workings of our organizations, corporations and governments are mostly opaque to the outside world. Chain of Command brings together a selection of visual representations of these organizations, often referred to as ‘organizational charts’. The work displays unmodified archival (found) charts, and has juxtaposed them alongside modified ('“blanked out”) versions. Organizational charts are variously defined as: ‘A map’ (Wikipedia), ‘a systemic non-narrative presentation of data’ (Wikipedia), and ‘a musical arrangement’ (Merriam Webster Dictionary). How do these hierarchies affect the way you live and work?"
